spinning plates!

Hi there! It’s the 3rd of January, which means I’ve already broken half of my resolutions {I haven’t washed my hair or relaxed in front of the TV for a mindless show yet…} BUT! As it is officially my last day of glorious vacation, I did my best to sneak in a craft {more crafting & less envy of others crafting is at the top of my resolution list}. Horray!

I like grocery shopping. One of my favorite things to do at the grocery store {second to locating the cheese sample lady or the pizza princess} is to get in the longest check out line I can find, grab a magazine, and settle in. I find it helps me practice patience. Plus, I get to relax and read a magazine. It’s quite nice. So yesterday I grabbed a DIY magazine and found a bunch of cute projects. The page that grabbed my attention first was an article about the awesome shop I Like You! located in Minneapolis. Man, does this shop look like my cup of tea! Instantly, I wanted to be there… with a tattoo’d sleeve and a bunch of extra cash to spend on locally owned prettiness. Anyway, since I can’t be there, I decided to buy the magazine and replicate one of the cool crafts I saw that they had used as a display in their store.

I’d seen this type of idea a while back when dear Sarah {check out her blog Hello My Dear for your daily dose of eye candy} brought this cool craft to my attention. I think the versions Sarah showed me were plates made into cake pedestals. {Am I right, Sarah?} I’m sure all kinds of versions of this craft are floating around the blog world. Below are the photos of mine. I was so happy to get to use the little mismatched plate collection I started for myself! I just super glued everything together using Gorilla Glue. Easy breezy! {The cute pointing finger is an antique Sarah gave me for my birthday last year}. Thanks to the lovely ladies at I Like You! for the inspiration!
